this one's for you, becca!

ok, my children are in love with a grown woman. her name is becca, and she and i learned how to be freshman together at wake forest university about a million years ago (actually, we figured that out sometime around junior year). she is the most considerate, thoughtful friend imaginable, and she also loves my precious boys, which only makes me love her more...she showers them with gifties that I would never buy them, and gives them lots of hugs and kisses...i suspect they may prefer her to me (0=

from the photos, you will note that becca is teaching them to snuggle and french kiss, and has helped them realize that everybody needs a bosom for a pillow. when she last left our house to return home to boston, jackson lamented, "who will come play with us now???". don't think he realized she would go home at some point. alas, this one is for her. as campbell would say, "miss becca, get on the plane!!".

The Jacksonator

now, this is how i like 'em!
this is my big, sweet boy asleep in the car in roughly 105 degree heat on the way back from the beach in our fly ride, the '87 camry wagon, which has no ac.
he was especially obedient during this time.
i think i shall take a new approach to the blogging, since it has become painfully apparent to us all that i am not proficient at daily, or even weekly writing....i think i was biting off more than i could chew, and trying to encapsulate a month's worth of stories/anecdotes into each post, and clearly this was daunting for me, so i found myself avoiding the lairlounge. sooo....one little nugget at a time is what i propose...here goes it:
today we popped in "alice in wonderland", a gifty from miss becca, jackson's fave grown-up.....the following conversation ensued:
Jax - "Mommy, what is a 'wonderland'?"
Me- "Well, Jax, that's a place that is so wonderful that it's hard to put it into words. It's a fantasy land where everything is perfect." (or something like that)
Jax- " You mean you don't wash dishes? Ever?"
Me- (trying to contain my smirk....was this a reflection on me?) "I guess that's about right, buddy."
Jax - "You mean you just get to let them pile up higher and higher?".
Me - "Yep, buddy. That's basically it."

Life's a Beach

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Dad's first Blog Post! Yes sports fans, I, Stephen Lair, being of sound body and mind, do hereby write this blogpost. We have recently returned from our trip to the beach. It was a combination platter of celebrations. My birthday, Campbell's birthday, Ron's birthday, and father's day. Lots of cake. For any of you who know me, you know I am a snob about my home state of Texas. The one battle I will concede is the beaches. Carolina has the best beaches I have seen. It took some time to get the boys accustomed to the ocean but now they are official surfin dudes. The aquarium was an adventure. Especially trying to convince Scrambles (Campbell) that the big fish couldn't get to him through the glass. Every time they would swim by- his toes would curl and he would say- Whoooah! Didn't seem to be bothered by the baby alligator though. Enjoy the pic's.
